December 16, 2024: This month, Judge John G. Koeltl of the Southern District of New York appointed Hartley LLP as co-lead counsel for the plaintiff cardmember class in the Visa Debit card case. Plaintiffs allege Visa monopolized the market for debit card network services and entered into anticompetitive agreements with competitors and potential competitors to not enter the market, thus eliminating competition. The Department of Justice is pursuing a parallel criminal case against Visa in the same District, which case has been coordinated with the civil cases.
