SAN DIEGO (June 17, 2019): Attorney Fatima Brizuela Joins Hartley LLP’s Growing Practice

Fatima Brizuela has joined San Diego-based plaintiff’s firm Hartley LLP.

In her practice, Brizuela focuses on antitrust, unfair competition, and consumer protection litigation, specializing in complex class action matters involving price-fixing, illegal tying, and unlawful monopolization. She has represented classes of individuals and businesses harmed by anticompetitive conduct from initial pre-suit evaluation of claims all the way through to class certification and final approval of final settlements.

Her recent work includes representation of a class of participants who traded futures and options in the foreign exchange market, alleging that defendant banks colluded to manipulate foreign exchange rates, in In re Foreign Exchange Benchmark Rates Antitrust Litigation (S.D.N.Y.); In re Cathode Ray Tube Antitrust Litigation (N.D. Cal.) (representing an end-user class of businesses and consumers alleging that manufacturers of cathode ray tubes conspired to fix, raise, maintain, and/or stabilize prices, thereby harming end-users who paid artificially inflated prices for CRT products); and In re Disposable Contact Lens Antitrust Litigation (M.D. Fla.) representing a class of consumers alleging that manufacturers of disposable contact lenses engaged in a “hub and spoke” conspiracy to coordinate prices through what defendants characterized as “unilateral pricing policies.”

“Fatima’s work is at a level far beyond her years of experience,” said Jason Hartley, founder of Hartley LLP. “She is a welcome addition to the firm and her contributions have already had a positive impact on the office.”

Brizuela graduated with honors from California Western School of Law and obtained her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University, summa cum laude.  “The work that Hartley LLP does is incredibly visible and important on a national level,” said Brizuela. “I’m looking forward to working side-by-side with some of the country’s top class action and business attorneys.”
