A nationwide class action on behalf of railway industry employees reached a $48.95 million settlement earlier this year. Hartley LLP represented the employees whose wages were depressed by an agreement between the largest railway service companies, Wabtec and Knorr, to not solicit or hire each other’s employees. The Department of Justice filed consent decrees with each Defendant in 2018, which led to civil actions filed around the country on behalf of employees. After the cases were consolidated in the Western District of Pennsylvania, Hartley LLP worked with co-counsel to finally bring the case to resolution. A final approval hearing in front of Judge Conti is scheduled for August, 2020.
