Hartley LLP is pursuing claims on behalf of a class of direct purchasers of key inputs for polyurethanes. The complaint alleges that the prices of isocyanates MDI and TDI which, when combined with polyols form a polyurethane, were artificially manipulated by their manufacturers. Bayer, BASF, Covestro, Huntsman, DupontDow, and Mitsui are alleged to have jointly raised prices and engaged in coordinated efforts to close manufacturing plants that limited production and increased prices.  It was reported that Covestro, the successor company to Bayer Material Science, is cooperating with the Department of Justice’s criminal investigation and that BASF was subpoenaed.

Hartley LLP attorneys were court-appointed plaintiffs lead counsel in the very first urethane chemicals case against several of the same defendants more than 10 years ago. That case settled favorably for plaintiffs.

If you purchased any MDI or TDI isocyanates  or products that include isocyanates such as pre polymers from any of the companies listed above, contact us to learn if you have a claim in the case.
